Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are in the throws of fall and November is shaping up to be a busy month.  Please be on the look out for information coming home soon about Parent Visitation for American Education Week.  As the Thanksgiving Holiday approaches, I begin to reflect on what I’m truly thankful for . . . friends, health, and especially family.  I hope you enjoy a restful Thanksgiving Holiday.

Dates and Events to Keep in Mind

Book Fair:  Our PTO sponsored Book Fair will take place on November 27th, 28th, and 29th.  The Book Fair will be open to parents the night of Wednesday, November 28nd from 6 pm to 8:00 pm.  We look forward to seeing you.

American Education Week:  American Education Week will be celebrated the week of November 12th.  This week presents all with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individual educators who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education.  Please be on the lookout for more information to come home about parent visitation.  "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." -- Albert Einstein

Sight Word Bingo Night: Come join us for a night of fun and learning at our 7th Annual Sight Word Bingo Night. Students will identify sight words on bingo sheets, reinforcing the importance of learning sight words.  This event will take place on Wednesday, November 28th from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

This is just a reminder that the next PTO meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.  The meeting will take place at Olivet Elementary School at 6:30 p.m.

We will celebrate School Spirit Days on the first Friday of each month; show your Elmer Pride by wearing your blue and white.

Reminder: Our Dare Officers would like to remind our families to practice a few important things.  Students should know by memory their full name, address, and phone numbers in case of an emergency.

Directed Play: The children will go outside everyday for directed play as the weather permits.  Please dress children appropriately for any kind of weather condition, as well as for the use of our playground equipment.  Students need sneakers to go on our playground equipment.  Our goal is to keep students safe and comfortable during this important time in their school day.
